Parent-Child Program
The Brooklyn School Parent-Child Program provides Waldorf education and resources for parents and their young children from 18 months until 4 years of age. In a light-filled classroom at the Brooklyn School, an intimate group of parents and children come together to explore the wonders of the first years of life.
Parents engage in activities like the making of simple crafts, while their children help them or play nearby. Children play with simple, natural toys and materials and are guided through the morning by the gentle rhythm of circle time, creative play, snack and story time.
Circle and story time reflect the world of nature and seasonal festivals. Circle time provides a rich learning experience through music and rhyme. Games and movement activities engage both large and fine motor coordination. Stories and puppet plays nourish the child’s imagination and provide rich material for creative play. Each week a different parent will be responsible for providing a simple and nutritious snack for the group.
The classes give parents an opportunity to discuss child development, parenting issues and Waldorf education with a Waldorf trained teacher. Sessions are offered in the fall, winter and spring, and are divided by age into two separate groups: 18 months-2.5 years and 2-3.5 years of age. Admission is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

BRIDGE PROGRAM
We'd also like to announce the start of the Bridge Program this year. The Bridge Program is for children who are 2.5 years to 3.5yrs and who are ready for a more intense PC experience but who aren't quite ready to enter nursery, a class that works towards separation when a child is ready to be on their own. The timing of this will vary from child to child and the lead teacher will consult with each parent on the timing of this.
Please note this is NOT a drop off program to start with - parents/caregivers will start the program with their
child and work TOWARDS separation. Once your child shows they are ready to separate you may then transition to "drop off".
The Bridge class will run on both Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 - 11:30am (2.5hrs each time - 5 hrs total a week). You will need to attend both class days (Mon and Wed) to be in the program. The cost of this semester long program is $2,250 for the 17 week session.
The current Bridge class is FULL - email to let us know your interest for the fall '08 session.
