Kindergarten Curriculum Overview

Kindergarten will be held Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. until1:00 p.m. The Kindergarten program is for children aged four and ahalf years until they are ready for First Grade, usually around sixand a half or seven years old. The Kindergarten provides a warm andloving environment in which each child's imaginative capacities arefostered and in which the teacher supports the development of eachchild's creative, practical and social skills. Although theKindergarten program is pre-academic, the children begin to receivethe foundations for elementary-age learning through variousactivities: circle and story time provide foundations for the languagearts; rhythmic games and songs help to develop a relationship tonumbers and mathematics; exposure to the natural world provides thefoundation for the life sciences; and creative expression lays thefoundation for the development of artistic skill.
