Primary Issues
In all Waldorf schools, two issues come to the foreground in the primary school years: Are the children being taught to read? and, Is there sufficient classroom discipline? Although either of these issues is worthy of a weeklong conference on its own, Eugene Schwartz will attempt to cut to the quick and deal with the most salient points concerning both literacy and classroom management. Eugene's 32 years as a Waldorf educator and his work with nearly 120 Waldorf schools will help him share insights into the successes - and the challenges - of the Waldorf method.

Eugene Schwartz lectures internationally on education. A Waldorf teacher for thirty years, he has directed teacher education programs, served as a consultant to over 100 schools, been awarded a Teaching Fellowship at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Eugene has brought new ideas about education in lectures delivered at the Aspen Institute, Harvard, Columbia, University of Tennessee Medical School, and the Fatih Koleji School in Izmir, where he delivered the first lectures on Waldorf education ever given in Turkey. He is co-director of the new Waldorf Masters Degree Program at Touro University in Valejo, California. Eugene is the father of four children and the grandfather of five.
