Chinese Language Playgroup for ages 2-5

For children ages 2-4 years accompanied by a parent/caregiver Mondays, 9:30 - 10:15am

For children ages 3-5 years, parent/caregiver attendance optional Mondays, 1:30 - 2:15 pm

Winter Session: January 28th - March 17th (BSW closed February 18th for President¹s Day) $150 ($125 for BWS students) 6 sessions

Spring Session: April 7th - June 9th (BSW closed April 26th for Memorial Day) $225 ($200 for BWS students) 9 sessions

Chinese Language Playgroup is for children ages 2- 5 years. Through Chinese songs, rhymes, finger play and puppetry, children will be immersed in the Chinese language. Simply games and activities will be incorporated as appropriate for the age group. Mr. Yu has recently developed this program specifically for our school.

To enroll, fill out the Chinese Admission Application and mail it in to Chinese Playgroup c/o The Brooklyn School, 126 Saint Felix Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217. The total tuition fee is due with your application. Checks should be made payable to The Friends of the Brooklyn Waldorf School.

Ning Yuan Yu (Mr. Yu) will be leading this program. Mr. Yu is an award winning scholar and teacher. He has taught Chinese language and culture for over 15 years. While in China, he completed and a M.A. in Chinese Literature and Writing and a M.S. in Sociology. He received his M.S. Ed in Waldorf Education from Sunbridge College in Spring Valley, NY.

Mr. Yu has published 5 books and 2 CDs. "Chinese Children's Folk Songs" received the "Excellent Book Award" from the Chinese Government, Department of Education. This book is used as textbook and teaching material in both China and America.

Mr. Yu received the Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) for his "Extraordinary Ability" in September 2005. He received the School Arts Partnership Grant award by the New York State Council on the Arts and administered through Partners for Arts Education in 2006 and 2007.
